Battle In Seattle
Headlines : International
Summary:

British journalist, Robert Fisk, reported on conditions in Beirut, Saturday.

As clashes continue to break out in north/eastern Lebanon, Hezbollah continues to hold a dominant presence in the mainly Muslim western sector of the capital. With the sector closed off with burning tires and roadblocks, Lebanese government forces reportedly patrol the streets with objectives other than dismantling the radical Shi’ite force.

British journalist reports conditions from West Beirut

Another American humiliation. The Shia gunmen who drove past my apartment in west Beirut yesterday afternoon were hooting their horns, making V-signs, leaning out of the windows of SUVs with their rifles in the air, proving to the Muslims of the capital that the elected government of Lebanon has lost.

And it has. The national army still patrols the streets, but solely to prevent sectarian killings or massacres. Far from dismantling the pro-Iranian Hizbollah’s secret telecommunications system – and disarming the Hizbollah itself – the cabinet of Fouad Siniora sits in the old Turkish serail in Beirut, denouncing violence with the same authority as the Iraqi government in Baghdad’s green zone.

The Lebanese army watches the Hizbollah road-blocks. And does nothing. As a Tehran versus Washington conflict, Iran has won, at least for now.

Did you see that Robert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal decided that not enough people had read Greg’s deconstruction of the Fake FARC memo and went ahead and blew it’s credibility one more light year down the crapper by asserting that they had proof that Chavez is funding the FARC and then !!!

The Spanish who just decided that they didn’t have enough proof to nail the MIC for the murder of journalists at the Palestine Hotel, decided that Rupert’s story didn’t have enough entertainment value so they went a step further an publicly alleged that the FARC is getting support from FN Belarus?

LOL

The more they expand their War on Terror, the more they vaporize it.
