Black America's real issue with Barack Obama
The spurious claim that Black Americans oppose Barack Obama because of his white mother, African father, and Harvard Law degrees is a racist slur against Black Americans by the mainstream news media, designed to trivialize and divert attention from real issues African Americans care about, but which are not addressed by Obama supporters OR their Republican opponents. Both Barack Obama’s Republican opponents and the centrist Democrats who support his presidential candidacy agree on one thing. They all agree that black opinion on the senator is both uninformed and irrelevant.
To hear the mainstream media, black dissatisfaction with Senator Obama is all about his black African father, his white American mother, his light complexion and his Columbia and Harvard Law degrees. The day after Rush Limbaugh called the senator a “half-frican” on the air, the term was in the mouths of ignorant black talk show hosts in multiple cities. Black America was then admonished and chided by white Republicans and Democrats of all colors for not embracing Senator Obama based on some foolish standard of black authenticity.
This is a racist calumny and slur of the first magnitude against all of black America. Our people have never rejected leading figures because of light complexions, immigrant parents or advanced degrees…

I’d love to believe this, except from what I hear Obama is being outpolled among “Black” voters by the more centrist Hillary Clinton rather than a candidate to the left of him. Also, the commentator apparently has not read the “Race” chapter of Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope”, in which he specifically does talk about such issues as the alarmingly high rates of imprisonment among “Black” men.
his light complexion and his Columbia and Harvard Law degrees
Why don’t we just set Dr. Patricia King on this? She does really important work with hers…
what the hell is a brak obama?

“Also, the commentator apparently has not read the “Race” chapter of Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope”, in which he specifically does talk about such issues as the alarmingly high rates of imprisonment among “Black” men.”
Sure he wrote about it in his book, much like he campaigned against the patriot act, but has he done anything about it? Or worse, like in the case of the patriot act, has he explicitly renegged on his stance?
he remains advocate of bombing Iran to start yet another
show me a specific quote where he supports bombing Iran, and not in hypothetical self-defense.
PEOPLE.......Barak Hussein Obama, will not win. Personally i like the guy, but hes black, has a arabic name, and that pretty will much keep you from ever becoming President of the Racist U.S.
Also Hillary HasNoChance Clinton. First of All Bush,Clinton,Bush,Clinton and than Bush(jeb)?????????? FUCK NO….......Bitch is Center Right, politically. And to be Politically incorrect, bitch wont win because she has a slit and two funbags.
Really tho, Why doesnt the media push someone who ACTUALLY has a chance, maybe john edwards??? in my opinion has the best chance of any Democrap. Yet receives no attentino from the Corporate Media(they dont want to push a winner…)
Crabs in a bucket!
yes you DR!
Crabs in a bucket!
The political landscape has not even really taken shape and your talking like a foul mouthed media pundit…as if you had any real information.
I, also, personally like the guy, and as a country we need a real leader. Will the real leader please stand up!
All I know is, Will someone please have the balls to ask President Bush if he is “white enough” to lead America? That one question would squash all of this nonsense in a minuit. This is the largest example of white privledge I have see in a long time. It’s quite offensive how many people- white or black or any race in between- think asking “is he ‘black enough’” is a letigitimate question, without even giving one second to think about what that statement even means.
I just want someone to ask the president “Mr Bush, are you white enough to lead America? “ And then maybe he could answer “well, Yes, padna, I reckon I am” in his faux semi-texas accent. And then I want him to define what being “white enough” to lead America entails.
The question “is black enough” is nowhere to be found in my post, So are coming up with crazy conclusions? As you know we are a minority(me being hispanic) and the white man in america has the majority. In general, in their hearts of hearts they dont want a black man leading the country. Second of all, Hussein Obama is not that great. Do some research, hey maybe your a moderate???
“political landscape has not even really taken shape”
Yea, Uh-huh, thats right….
Funny the slit and funbags comment was fine?????
Dear Democrats,
Thank you ever so much for deciding to run a woman no one likes and a black man with Islam in his past. We were afraid we were going to have to work for this election, but you just handed us every chauvinist and every closet rascist in America. That’s our base PLUS the moderates!
Love in Christ,
The Republican Party…
Well, with a mentality like that, we will have rich white male candidates for many many many more years to come. And I strongly disagree with the idea that only the Republican party is racist, or that racist people only vote Republican. Give racism some credit, it’s pervase enough in American culture to firmly be a part of both major parties.
these comments to make me realise, if I had any doubt, exactly where a black man stands in this country. It’s bad enough that there are ignorent people out there, but even the educated people seem willing to concede early to the ignorent people instead of fight them. Good to know.
oh, btw, i probably wont’ be voting for Obama or Clinton, but because of their record, or lack of record, not their gender, race, or religion. Even the fact that the conversation is moving in this direction is a perfect sign that the media control the nature of debate in this country
It’s teh pervading mentality, dono… and yes, methinks you WILL have rich, white males for many many more years to come. I’d love to be wrong…
First rule to being an educated person: know that you’re outnumbered…
That’s crap. The conversation moves in this direction because that’s where America is right now. Again, I’d love to be wrong…
donovoc gotta stop reading the NY Times and other so callled “Liberal” papers. Get your head out of your ass and stare reality straight in its ugly hariy face.
Im just being honest, i wish we had a egalitarian society, i wish we didnt need to count how many browns and blacks and yellows we have in the US. But the reality is what me Truth have posted.
“the fact that the conversation is moving in this direction is a perfect sign that the media control the nature of debate in this country”
Bullshit, the fact that were discussing about 2 individuals who really have no shot at the white house, and talking about their white house possiblites, is the Mainstream media shoving these 2 assholes down the Peoples throats.
Again Big corporations do not push winners…......Hence Obama, CLinton.
BTW donovoc, the GOP (government of the powerful) is not known for its wide appeal to minorities, hence its 90% White Christian Base.
